Parks Donation Program

Add Beauty to Your Favorite Park or Trail

ABOUT

The City of Larkspur's Parks Donation Program is a special way to honor a loved one, commemorate a milestone, or to add beauty to your favorite park or trail. Many community members have dedicated benches, trees and tables in one of Larkspur's beautiful parks or pathways. Each donation item carries a different story through the words engraved on a customized bronze plaque.

The Program was founded to allow donors an opportunity to celebrate a happy occasion or leave a lasting memory of a loved one while also benefitting the community.

HOW IT WORKS

There are many items available for donation. On the Donation Needs page, you will find a list of locations that need new or replacement park furnishings or trees.

If there is a location or item not on the list, we are happy to discuss your situation. We will try to accommodate your wishes, however, there are years-long waiting lists at more popular locations for a specific type of donation item, such a bench. However, the same location need a table, tree or other donation item.

PARK PROJECT UNDERWRITING

The City of Larkspur is extremely fortunate to have some very generous citizens who have funded entire park improvement project with private donations. Some recent projects include:

  • Greenbrae School Park, basketball court resurfacing paid through private donation, completed 2013
  • Heatherwood Park, playground equipment and surfacing replacement, paid through neighborhood fundraiser, completed 2015
  • Dolliver Park, new playground equipment to be paid through private donation, estimated completion 2022
  • Hamilton Park, entire park upgrade including landscape, hardscape and park furniture replacement, to be paid through private donation, estimated completion 2022

Each of these projects is unique both in scope and the story behind it. The donor and City staff partner over a period of many months to work on a scope of work. This iterative process results in a project benefits the community and staying within the donor's budget.
