Responsibilities
The Building Department is responsible for enforcing the building, housing, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical codes of the city. The Department also:
  • Performs inspection work to ensure that residential, commercial, and industrial construction is in compliance with applicable codes and ordinances
  • Issues building, plumbing, and electrical permits
  • Reviews all construction plans

City Inspector Office Hours
The Building Inspector will be available at City Hall to review permits and answer questions every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. You may also call (415) 927-5110 during his counter hour to ask questions over the phone.

Public Works Office Hours
Public Works will hold counter hours at City Hall for questions on a first-come, first-served basis on Mondays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. You may call their office for additional assistance at (415) 927-5017.

Certified Access Specialist
