Support the Larkspur Library

Volunteer Opportunities

Community Service

Students or community members may volunteer at the Library to satisfy needed community service hours. Ongoing projects are available for volunteers to assist with library collection maintenance or library programs. Community service positions are always dependent upon the availability of supervising staff and projects, so volunteers should make arrangements with the Volunteer Coordinator to schedule hours at least one month prior to their needed completion date for their community service hours. Contact the Volunteer Coordinator, Drew Bendickson, at 415-927-5005 to inquire about the availability of community service work.

Your donations of new and gently used library materials greatly support our library. Donated materials will either be added to the collection, or sold by the Friends of the Larkspur Library in our ongoing book sales. The financial benefit to the library from your donations is significant and helps to purchase new materials and support library programs. Materials that cannot be sold or added to the collection are donated to local schools, prisons, hospitals and other non-profit organizations.

Materials that we prefer to accept for donation are books in good to new condition, with no signs of mildew or yellowing, highlighting or underlining, nor tears or missing pages. Fiction and popular nonfiction published within the last five years, cookbooks, gardening books, home design and art books are easiest for the library to add and sell. We cannot add or sell outdated business, medical, textbooks, technical and science books. Recent popular magazines can be donated in small numbers. We can accept DVD’s in good condition, and complete undamaged sets of audio books on CD.

Donations of up to 4 bags or boxes may be brought to the library main office during library open hours. Please call the library to inquire about larger donations, or if you have questions about material types, at 415-927-5005, or email the library at Your donations are tax deductible. We will give you a signed receipt when you drop off your donation.

Your regular donations are welcome and gratefully received. Financial contributions can be made directly to the library, to the Friends of the Larkspur Library, or to the Larkspur Library Endowment Fund and Foundation. All donations are tax deductible. For more information, contact the library at 415-927-5005 or email at
